PAULINA OWCZAREK & PETER ORINS
Paulina Owczarek and Peter Orins met in 2015, when they were both invited by pianist and conductor Satoko Fujii to participate in the creation of the Satoko Fujii Orchestra Berlin. A few concerts and two records of the orchestra later, the two musicians, one living in Krakow in Poland, the other in Lille in France, keep in touch or cross paths at concerts…
In 2019, the saxophonist invites the drummer to play his solo in Krakow, and the two take the opportunity to try the duet experience: the meeting is luminous. Both musicians are fond of a total and unlimited freedom, and of a research on timbres and sound experimentations. Close-up sound, play on the breaths and squeaks of objects, minimal approach but also raw energy that reminds a certain tradition of the saxophone-drum duo in the history of free-jazz…
In 2020, enthusiastic, they insist in spite of the pandemic, and, as being unable to perform in public, meet in Lille at the beginning of 2021 to record.
Paulina Owczarek – saxophonist and improviser, graduated from the Academy of Music in Krakow. She plays the alto and baritone sax. Interested mainly in free improvisation, she also performs contemporary chamber music, having premièred numerous new works for saxophone in Poland.
She is an active member of improvised and experimental music scene, taking part in Krakow free improv projects (such as Institute Of Intuition, Muzykoterapia) and international festivals of contemporary and improvised music (Ad Libitum, Hurta Cordel, Musica Electronica Nova, Ostrava Days, Lublin Jazz Festival, AudioArt, Sound Exchange, Krakow Jazz Autumn, Mirror Mirror, Discordian Community Riot, No Woman No Art, Unsound, Soundance, Saalfelden Jazz Festival).
The founder and conductor of Krakow Improvisers Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to conducted improvisation. Currently she is also involved in groups such as Morświn, Human.error, Dust Mite Paradise and Sambar. She has been a member of London Improvisers Orchestra and Satoko Fuji Orchestra; she has worked with theatres: Teatr Stary, Teatr Sztuk and Krakow Opera and has improvised with poets, dancers and painters.

Paulina Owczarek et Peter Orins se rencontrent en 2015, alors qu’ils sont tous deux invités par la pianiste et cheffe d’orchestre Satoko Fujii à participer à la création du Satoko Fujii Orchestra Berlin. Quelques concerts et deux disques de l’orchestre plus tard, les deux musiciens, l’une résidant à Cracovie en Pologne, l’autre à Lille en France, gardent contact ou se croisent au détour de concerts…
En 2019, la saxophoniste invite le batteur à jouer son solo à Cracovie, et les deux en profitent pour s’essayer au duo : la rencontre est lumineuse. Les deux musiciens sont friands d’une liberté totale et sans limite, et d’une recherche sur les timbres et les expérimentations sonores. Gros plans sonores, jeux sur les souffles et crissements d’objets, approche minimale mais aussi énergie brute qui n’est pas sans rappeler une certaine tradition du duo saxophone batterie dans l’histoire du free-jazz…

Paulina Owczarek – saxophoniste et improvisatrice, diplômée de l’Académie de musique de Cracovie. Elle joue du saxophone alto et baryton. Intéressée principalement par l’improvisation libre, elle joue également de la musique de chambre contemporaine, ayant créé de nombreuses nouvelles œuvres pour saxophone en Pologne.
Elle est un membre actif de la scène de la musique improvisée et expérimentale, participant à des projets d’improvisation libre à Cracovie (tels que Institute Of Intuition, Muzykoterapia) et à des festivals internationaux de musique contemporaine et improvisée (Ad Libitum, Hurta Cordel, Musica Electronica Nova, Ostrava Days, Lublin Jazz Festival, AudioArt, Sound Exchange, Krakow Jazz Autumn, Mirror Mirror, Discordian Community Riot, No Woman No Art, Unsound, Soundance, Saalfelden Jazz Festival).
Elle fonde et dirige le Krakow Improvisers Orchestra, un ensemble dédié à l’improvisation dirigée. Actuellement, elle est également impliquée dans des groupes tels que Morświn, Human.error, Dust Mite Paradise et Sambar. Elle a été membre du London Improvisers Orchestra et du Satoko Fuji Orchestra ; elle a travaillé avec des théâtres : Teatr Stary, Teatr Sztuk et l’Opéra de Cracovie et a improvisé avec des poètes, des danseurs et des peintres.
